About Us

Dementia Friendly Fairfax

Dementia Friendly Fairfax is a community initiative dedicated to raising awareness and providing support for individuals living with dementia and their care partners in Fairfax County, Virginia. Launched in July 2019, the initiative is a partnership between Goodwin Living (formally Goodwin House), Fairfax County, and Insight Memory Care Center.

Our Vision

Dementia Friendly Fairfax envisions a community where individuals living with dementia and their care partners:

• Have access to a variety of meaningful and engaging activities,

• Receive support that fosters the highest quality of life, and

• Are empowered to live independently for as long as possible.

Community Integration

The Fairfax Area Commission on Aging and the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging have incorporated the Dementia Friendly Fairfax initiative into the SHAPE Plan, a strategic effort to better serve older adults in our community.
