Action Team Partners

Building a Community of Understanding and Inclusion

Dementia Friendly Fairfax Partners is a collaborative initiative dedicated to fostering a more inclusive, compassionate, and supportive environment for individuals living with dementia and their care partners.

Through community education, outreach efforts, and cross-sector partnerships, the initiative equips local organizations, businesses, first responders, and residents with the tools and knowledge to better support those affected by cognitive decline.

By raising awareness and championing practical strategies for meaningful engagement, the Partners work to break down stigma, improve accessibility, and promote dignity for all. Their goal is clear: to make Fairfax County a place where everyone—regardless of memory or cognitive challenges—can live with purpose and respect.

Dementia Man, An Existential Journey is the second play by The Actual Dance, LLC, created by Sam Simon. Premiering at Capital Fringe in Washington, D.C. in July 2023, the play explores Sam’s personal journey after his diagnoses of Mild Cognitive Impairment (2018) and Early-Stage Alzheimer’s (2021).

Drawing on his earlier work The Actual Dance and his leadership in the disability community, Sam offers a powerful reflection on finding purpose and creativity after diagnosis. The play has been performed at the APAP Conference in New York, Stony Brook Medical Center, and Capital Fringe, sharing a message of hope and resilience in the face of dementia.
